CollinAshmore and Dan aka silenthunterstudios came by the shop yesterday. We went down to the Gosstoberfest camp area to practice firemaking and play with some blades. Knives represented were Gossman, Siegle, Koyote, NWA and Esee Junglas. We batoned and made one stick fires using these knives and poplar wood. Dan did great being this was his first time practicing this skill.

I love that Siegle! It is a beast at 3/8" thick! Blew through that wood like it wasn't even there.

Check out the third pic, left side, of the sheath for the Siegle made by River8. I should have taken a better pic of it. Maybe Collin can post a pic. Great sheath set up for that big Siegle. Baldric carry.

That's the Scimitar that Scott made for me last Xmas time! She's amazing....8.5 inches long by 3 inches at the widest and 5/16s thick...really long handle that balances that massive blade well. If you look in his subforum right after Xmas, you should find a whole thread about it.

As for the rest, thanks for posting all these pics Scott. Great to see them all. It was a ton of fun. Really made my whole week worth it...and I'll try to get some better pics of the sheath River 8 did for me...it's fantastic work too.

What is the smallest Gossman? What are the specs on it? I really like it!

That's a Tusker Companion with a spearpoint blade. 8 1/2" overall with a 4" blade, 3 3/4" cutting edge. Oversized 3/16" thick by 1 1/4" wide. Steel is S7. The more I use S7, the more I like it. Holds an edge very well.

Great pics, and some great blades! Nice to see a NWA Woodsman in there too

Nick is one of the best makers out there IMO. If I wasn't a knifemaker, I would own several of his. NWA and Laconico are two of my favorites. For big blades, it's tough to beat a Siegle.

Thanks again to Scott and Collin. I had a blast, and learned a lot. Came away with a better appreciation of what big blades can do and what I am most appreciative of, what I can do. Scott and Collin are very patient teachers. My preconcieved notion that all big blades are only good for chopping was quickly tossed out by Collins Siegle in action. Practicing on getting better shavings!

That's awesome, definitely one of my favorite knives ever although 3/16" stock would suit me just fine !

Those are some great looking blades..thanks so much for getting these pics up..Scimitar is cool :-)

I knew it the minute I saw the blades laid out on that table that the super nessmuk one had to be Scott's work but that other monster had a definite Siegleness to it. Those are some amazing blades you guys got to play with:thumbup: I'm jealous as heck. I have yet to get a Gossman(soon though), and I got rid of both my Siegle and NWA(one for the other actually) and i wish I had them back now:grumpy: It looks like you guys had a pretty nice camp site too. I can't wait to get out to the woods for some craftin'. Thanks for sharing guys.
