Batteries?

Bruise it's a NiMH charger made by Sony. I got it when I got my camera, actually IINM it came with the camera.
It's evidently a trickle charger because it takes about 24 hours before the charging light goes out on it.

Try fully discharging the batteries and recharging them a couple of times. I think I remember reading that somewhere before.

The set I had in over night evidently weren't fully charged. I took them both out of the charger and re-inserted them and the light came back on displaying that it is charging some more. That was early this morning and the light is still on.
I'm anxious to see if they will show a full charge on my voltmeter.
I sure wish it went down to a 1.5 volt so I could see just what the charge is. If they're like a car battery they will show a little more than 1.5 volts.
A 12 volt car battery will show about 13.5 volts when fully charged.

I think a full charge on an AA cell will be 1.2 Volts.

Plus the NiMhs don't hold their charge as well as NiCd or standard batteries. However, if you keep yer charger handy you can top em' off.

I don't recall if this applied only to NiCd's or if it was important for NiMH's as well-- you might need to break them in. This is done by completely charging and completely discharging(until they are TOTALLY dead), and then repeating at least one more time. I remember doing this with all my rechargeables back in the days that I was using them, and never ran into problems.

One thing about digital cameras and similar connect-to-your-computer devices - Transferring files back and forth is a VERY power-hungry operation. Disconnect and turn off the device as soon as you've sent the files over.

As Shappa said, there's a lot of battery info on candlepowerforums.com.

IIRC, as I think someone else said, you don't want to discharge NiMH too completely. Also, there are protected and unprotected batteries.

This is something I'm just getting into. I bought a charger and 2 LIR123 3.6V - 750mAh - Protected batteries from http://szwholesale.com/ today, to go with a 3 W light LED I ordered.
