Oh my goodness, ladies and germs
I don't think that every slip of the tongue, be it an off the cuff remark or a mild curse used in a blue (but not overly offensive) manner requires a moderator to jump in and start grabbing people by their e-ears. You are all allegedly adults engaging each other on a forum, the very place where ideas and conversation is supposed to happen by design. You won't always agree with one another. Words may be said that are later regretted. Exchanges may be had that would result in bloody noses in real life. Welcome to the internet.
Long story short:
GB made a boneheaded remark. Do I think he a misogynist? Of course not. We all say things that either we don't mean or can be misconstrued, it's just when it is in digital print we can get our noses rubbed in it more often. Still, boneheaded.
Max used a word that they did not edit out of a movie I watched on ABC Family last night with my daughter. Thanks for editing it, though.
But, Max, I'm a blunt guy, so please don't take this the wrong way...chill out. You are in the midst of some of the greatest group of guys and gals to walk the planet, and I say that without the slightest inkling of hyperbole. I've seen these people go so far above and beyond not only to help each other out but to help out total strangers. I didn't ding GB because I expected you two to talk it out like adults if you have an issue. If it came to e-blows or someone using "A, dollar sign, dollar sign" word as an insult, knuckles would have been rapped and no dessert would be given. I'm a tyrant like that.
Here's a blanket statement on my personal moderating style: I am fairly hands off. I'm not a stickler about the rules unless they are major transgressions. I am passionate about HI and all of the friends and family that I have made here over the last decade+, but I also believe in letting things work their own ways out. Also, in full disclosure, I have a rich and demanding life regarding my career and family to lead outside of the forum confines...as does Howard and Bawanna, and pretty much every one else posting here reading this. I'm going to miss "infractable" statements. Heck, I'm going to miss whole threads at times when work is crazy. If you see an issue, use the report button. If you want more immediate or personal attention to it, send me a PM. I check those at least once a day.
So, here we are. A cool thread that turned ugly early on and was given a chance to right its course. It ends with a call to close the thread and an email to Yangdu questioning the integrity of her forum staff. I guess it has run its course. It's disappointing when this happens. These were rare times back in the day. Blue Lander is absolutely correct.
