Battle Grade... Minus The Dress?!?!?!?!!!

Taking the plunge and ordering some Odie's, have been looking for the right oil for knife handles for a while and this seems to be the best suited I can find. Pricey but luckily I've got some furniture that needs a finish so I'll be able to finish off the jar rather than let it harden in waste away over the next year.

I think you will like it. I used it on some natural canvas unbuffed micarta. They are still holding their color. When I used say Obenaufs leather conditioner or Ren wax, results would fade away. I even used Odies oil on my 3v knife steel, looks nice.

I have refinished two tables and four chairs so far. Still plenty left in my jar. Also I think my jar is almost a year old and there’s no change in the Odies oil. Quick stir and it’s ready for use. I have not seen it harden yet. Just fyi 👍👍

Do you have any more pics to share of that natural micarta? I'm thinking of using this on a couple examples of Tan Canvas Micarta on my Mega Ratmandu's. Hoping they will darken significantly and turn a more reddish hue, wondering if I should try and go with the Odie's Dark instead of the Original.

I’ll take some today 👍 I can do a before and after with a INFI flak Jack I have.
The odies dark is not specifically darker on application. The odies dark will darken deeper over time, not initial application.

duramax duramax What did you use to apply the Odie's oil with? They say to use a scotchbrite pad on the finer side or even non-abrasive pad, I really don't want to lose and texture so I'm thinking I'll use the non-abrasive hand pad to apply.

How long did you leave the product on before buffing off? They say up to three hours but the longer it goes the more work to buff off the excess. Not too concerned on such a small piece so I'd be willing to let it sit a while.

So I used the white or grey scotchbrite pad they sell. I put the first coat on for about 20min ? I did the blade and all. Then I buffed off with a terry towel followed by a microfiber towel. The next day I did another coat to the handles. Waited like 10 min and buffed off with same two towels. I haven’t touched it since and it’s holding the color change :)

On wood if let it sit too long it can be a little harder to buff off. But it’s no worse than doing the same with car wax. Also a glass like shine like for a table. That comes from prep. The higher you go with sandpaper the glossier it will be.
