Copperhead took a strike at me in Kentucky. Battle Mistress won. Enlarge pic if you wish.

Looks like you sliced him twice...good kill!!

I almost stepped on one all coiled up last year in a river bottom while hunting. He was well camoflauged with all the leaves, one more step and I would have stepped on it.

I don't believe that... is that the whole story? Cause I'm huge snake guy and usually that's not what they do.... And it's been pretty cold out so I don't think that they are that active now... Snakes aren't as bad as everyone makes them out to be...

On a warm day, even in Winter down here, snakes are active. Usually they go their own way, but I have had to dispatch a few rattlers, copperheads, and cottonmouths with blades on occasion. I have had copperheads repeatedly strike my pant leg before I got them.

Your in GA, he is up in Indiana. Up here, we have to craw up, reach under rocks to pull these babies out. Yes, was on a snake hunt and that's what Stanly did, he is a bit crazy and no snakes where harmed. He kept them for pets, we got some real nice timber rattlers and some copper heads... It was awesome, I loved it!

Suck on some bama clay! :grumpy:

Liu...apparently you did not read my entire post. Please read an entire post before drawing your own conclusions. I do not recall you walking with me down the mountain in Eastern KENTUCKY. It was fantastic weather for snakes on Friday with the temp topping 70 degrees and the sun in full force all day. You may love snakes. I do not. I was seeking deer, not snakes.

You ought to find out if your favorite leather guy could do something with that snake skin... as foar as new pants go it would be pretty cool:thumbup:

I'll see snakes here in Georgia in December on warm days out in the sun while hunting.

I'll kill the poisionous snakes every chance I get.

I don't go after them, but if they are a hazard to me or my loved ones, I'll kill them. Usually, they go away. I have probably walked right past dozens of them and never saw them. One whack with a machete or big knife and its over.

I agree snakes aren't as bad as people think. I've walked right by some cottonmouths and they went about their business, but some are more agressive.

I've never been chased by a cottonmouth or any other snake, but if your walking through the woods and step on one, they are going to strike you.

my last run in with a rattler was in Utah. I was up at some relatives house and almost stepped on a baby rattler with shorts and flip flops on.

I jumped over it right as it struck at my foot.

It coiled up and kept striking at me. If I had been out in the boonies I would have just left it alone, but it was about 2 feet away from a group of little toddlers in the front yard of the family's house. I did shovel that one, because it was so tiny and quick I did not think I could safely catch it and move it some where.

The day before, one of the neighbor kids caught a little "gardner snake" and was showing it off to their mom. It bit her and oops, not a gardner snake, it was a baby rattler.
