Is the new Battle Mistress the same WIDTH from edge to spine as the older models with the straight handles?

I will order one soon and wanted to know if it was as wide. Thanks, Jeff

I measured the width of my BM-E. It has a 1 5/8 inch width. I was surprised that it was this "trim" because I was hoping for a wide blade like the old BM. However I believe this new width and spear point might have some advantages for utility and what not. Hope this answered your question. If you have any more questions about the BM-e, just email me.

Was there ever any explanation as to why the width was reduced. My old BM is 1 13/16" wide. One of the things I liked most about it was that the thickness : width ration was so small that the cutting ability was rather high. Of course 3/16" is not a huge loss, but if I had to pick I definately would want it. Are the other dimensions the same?

I would be curious to know how the old and new style compare in terms of chopping and cutting in general. The new handle would give an obvious advantage, but the more obtuse profile could be a significant disadvantage as well.

That is my same thoughts Cliff. If I could choose I would like the wider blade for the same reason. Jeff
