Battle of the big bowies. SP5 vs. SP10. Opinions?

19-3ben 19-3ben it looks like your thread lives again! Gosh… just think of how young you were back then.
I was so young. So naive. So full of youthful optimism and promise. Hell, back then, I probably even believed that one day I'd find "the last knife I'd need."

In the end, I decided all those years ago to get the SP5 due to it being the better "all around" knife, rather than a dedicated chopper. It hasn't let me down. The thing lives in my trunk, and has done everything from clear small trees/branches that are blocking the road, cleaned branches and larger trunks before using an axe to split thicker pieces for firewood, has been used in landscaping projects around my house, and batonning for firewood.

A couple years ago I used it to knock out a bunch of grape vines that had overgrown one side of the yard, and varied in thickness from 0.5" up to about 1.5". The SP5 is the perfect balance between a large chopper and a machete to take care of those woody vines that are just flexible enough to avoid a clean cut from a thicker chopper.

Nice budget trio here. Add a folding saw to these, and there's almost no bushcraft/outdoor task you can't do.

The OKC SP10, SP5, and SP53 are all excellent choices. Let's hope the new owners continue the series, but improve the quality control, and ship them with better sheaths. I like the SP10, because it can do literally everything. The SP5 and SP53 are better camp knives.
