Hi Everybody,

Finally had a minute to try out my new Battle Saw's Saw part.

Let me explain a few things.

Sheaths;

Someone had asked for a sheath that allows you to use the saw while the sheath is on.

I am guessing to reduce risk or slipping and riding the sharpened edge if you slip
Great point.

I did a couple Exposed Spine sheaths and they will work great.

I also had a thought and it was pointed out that the teeth may be sharp enought to cut you or damage anything they brush up against.

They are sharpish.
They will scratch your car if you rub them on it.
The are not like an edge but if you fell or put some force behind it, the teeth can cut you.

So I made the saw cover on one of the Exposed Spine sheaths, a Bikini if you will.
I made it so that you can secure it through the talon hole with some para-cord and a easily removable post and screw.
You can use just para-cord if you like.

I prefer Fire Cord (neat stuff more later)

So if you take the Saw cover off you can make a simple d-guard out of para cord and saw with the sheath on (see video)

The only draw back with sawing with the sheath on is you can only saw so far before the width of the sheath and knife is wider than the channel you are creating.
Now for precise notches and stuff like that this is fine, but if you want to go deeper, you must remove the sheath.

Once you remove the sheath you can reattach the para-cord D-guard and saw away.

The saw works perfect and the push stroke gives you very precise cuts so you can make nice notches for traps and whatnot.

This Battle Saw has moved in to my Top 5 favorite Busse's

Hope this helps out.

Also about Fire-cord,

Great stuff

It is regular 550 cord but one of the strands has been replaced with a fire tender and weatherproof strand.
It lights with sparks from a ferrous rod fairly easily.

Dave,

One of the best techniques for using the Battle Saw is to saw from the bottom of the board up. That way, you can apply a small amount of upward pressure while pushing the knife away from you. It works great!

Your Battle Saw sheathes are AWESOME!!!

Let's Drink!!!!

Great pictures and video David. I am curious what the other 4 in your top 5 are though. I know I have seen you speak highly of the steak knife before. I can't wait to get mine back in hand
