Battle Saw Sharpening...

So... I started stripping my Battle Saw last night. Tanker Grey is TOUGH! MANY coats of stripper and much sanding. I have stripped several Busse's in the recent past and this finish is the beast! I thought my B5 was bad, but... WOW

I found 80 grit wet dry paper used wet with a flexible sanding block worked really well (I got a jumbo school eraser at the dollar store). The Infi dimples are amazing on Battle Saws!

I went to the hardware store to get dremel stuff and found long skinny stones intended for chainsaw sharpening. I thought they might work well for cleaning talon holes and rough marks around the choil and pommel. Well... it also works well to clean inside the saw teeth! and..... as a result of this fine stone in the tooth slot, the teeth became sharper and sharper! WOW! Unintentionally, my Battle Saw is now so sharp, you could cut yourself on the saw teeth!

I just thought I'd share my discovery.

Enjoy! Let's Drink (but not when sharpening)!

These pics are mid process, but you can get the idea...

Awesome Thread!!! Havnt got my Battlesaw yet, but the stripping issue and the saw teeth has kept me thinking how to do without spoiling the sharpness of the teeth. Thx for sharing.

I have seen many knives mangled by dremel type tools. I keep the speed slow, take my time and keep your angle consistent; the arbor can really do some damage. Many passes of slow speed are better than a few high rpm passes!

Great info, but this thread needs pics!!!

It's a Dremel Aluminum Oxide Grinding Bit. It was a 2 pack. Lowe's had 2 different sizes, this was the larger... 3/16" or 7/32". Unfortunately I disposed of the package several days ago. The stone is long, slender and a redish brown.

Bingo! I only have used 1 size, but I can see a variety of sizes being very useful!

Wow, great thank you. I too have thought about sharpening that area. Sounds interesting once it gets razor tips on her lol.

While I'm at it, here are a few more I've been cleaning the non-sharpened edges from burrs and machining marks. I'm on the quest for a all purpose, do everything if I need it to, go to knife. The 1/300 SHBM and ZTBM are the current contenders...

Timmy, I found her not far from where I live, believe it or not! I think the original owner had stripped the blade, then the next owner stripped a little more and built a really nice convex edge. Super knife, so is the ZT! Both are light, fast, simple. I can't really find any flaws with either knife.
