Battle Saw sheath?

David, can you make an open spine design where the kydex is just a touch taller than the saw teeth? Preferably with a dangler loop and molle attachments?

the woodland is out there. its just camouflaged.
Brilliant!

I will definitely be looking to purchase a kydex sheath for my battle saw, but for the reasons David and others mentioned I would not want it to be open spine. Realistically, I do not think I would ever saw with the sheath on. I wouldn't want an open spine cover either since it would just be something to misplace and/or break.

Now I just need the knife to get here so I can start experimenting :)

I like the open spine pattern for saw back knives. Those things really love to chew up leather.

I just finished an open spine sheath for the MOAB and it feels ideal for a large knife.

This one I did not order but I must say that is a capital idea. I would love to see that!

I like this idea as well. The open spine taller kydex and the dangler and molle attachments.

Hey Dwayne, how about a "convertible hybrid" open spine with a removable snap flap over the sawteeth that could be snapped over the teeth when stowed but unsnapped and reattached over the blade edge spine of the sheath when you want to deploy the saw?

Four female "Lift the Dot" or similar snaps on the 4 corners of the removable sawtooth flap-- the four male snaps on the sheath itself...heck, I'm sure with your skills you could engineer it and place the snaps so that you could employ all the same 4 male/female snaps to do double duty for "drop top cruising" or "covered up" mode...just like an old T-Bird! ;)

Just by flipping over the flap from saw tooth side to edge side-- like, unsnap, remove, then flip-over, & resnap on the same males...can you picture it? or am I not doing a good job explaining?...:o

Seems to me it could be a practical, utilitarian design with a minimum of "moving parts" unlike anything offered anywhere!:D:thumbup:

Let me know if you want a shot at the design for my personal sheath...I have a black g10 BS due here in Tennessee in TWO WEEKS, Lexi promised.:p

Ooooooh! Lemme get to the sketch book and I'll be back with something. I LIKE IT!

Double snaps for each side is a good idea. Best of both worlds.

Hey, that was generally my idea in first place (see my recent post above) :p

similar, but I don't mention "hinges" of any sort and to be honest I didn't even consciously remembering your post even though it was immediately above my other post...no offense, I read through almost every post on threads that interest me & that's probably 100 per day :o

anyways, I'm not claiming patent rights or anything like that, I just want a great leather sheath from a great maker, heck it might not even be practical to make when Dwayne takes a critical look at it...life's good! :)

Basic pattern set based on the ASHBM. The three legged snap cover has snaps on both sides so its totally removable, the single strap that it normally has goes in the first snap location after the three snap flap is removed. Modular!

actually I'm working on a two snap cover with that third as a permanent because, well, its going to be there anyhow. Might as well make it solid.

So many possibilities. You're an inspiration dude. I can't wait to get some time to try my hand at leather pants

I think the snap sheath that Dwayne showed the drawing of would work great for the battle saw. Its going to have some issues that other saw backs don't because of the forward cant of the teeth. I've got a saw back or two with the teeth pretty sharp and pointing to the back and haven't had an issue's with the sheaths. As long as they have a thick enough welt. A snap on or hinged kydex would be cool too I bet David will come up with a sweet design too.
