The knife is a beautiful example of custom knifemaking; other than my old Corby's my best piece. I hate to part with it but no choice.
Peter Bauchop Alley Cat fighter, D2 blade steel, elephant ivory scales. The guard was engraved in 2004 by Elizabeth Dolbare of Wyoming (written up in Knives Annual), and is stunning work. My pics don't show the true depth or detail of the engraving. The custom sheath is by Kenny Rowe.
Specs are:
Blade: 8"
Handle: 5.875" (5 7/8"), exposed, full polished tang
OAL: 13.875"
Weight: 14.8 oz., 1.0666 oz. per inch.
Balances perfectly, like a part of your hand. There are two small checks at the front of the handle, one at the right side and small set near the rear pin. I've kept the handle treated with mineral oil and they have not changed in any way since I've owned the knife. This knife has never been in the sheath, carried, used or sharpened. Other than the trip for engraving it's never been stored out of the safe.
Price is $950, plus $15 Insurance priority shipped anywhere in the CONUS (only). No international shipments. Cashiers check or MO only please. I don't have a pic but I'll include a padded case for shipping.
Please email me at n-l-morris@sbcglobal.net if interested. Sorry, no trades at this time.
Thanks for looking.
(Sorry the pics are a bit too bright. The first shot was with an ivory stocked 1911):
You can see one of the small checks here in this pic at the top of the left scale. There is a similar one on the right side:
