Bayonet for allround fixed blade, am i nuts?

I remember something like this being discussed before, similar Swiss bayonets, but I don't recall if it was the SIG models or some other. As I recall, someone had re-ground and sharpened the edges. There's an outer shell of hard metal, like a chrome coating. The inner steal, after being exposed during grinding, was untreated and soft, totally unsuitable for a knife blade.

Maybe a search would turn up that old topic, if it even was at this forum.
