Since there is an Axe (etc) forum, a Sword Discussion forum, how about a Bayonet forum?

Why not here?

Why not here?

It’s close, but the bayonet is primarily a military firearm accessory. So the active historical period would be within the last 300-400 years. They overlap briefly, but the primary historical period for the sword is much earlier as the sword tends to become increasingly obsolete as firearm technology advances. It would be like trying to mix anthropology with the sword.

I’m just saying when I’ve seen people request a machete forum, which I also thought was a good idea, those discussions tend to get directed to the sword forum. So why not also discuss bayonets there? If we had a dedicated section for every possible blade category, the main page would be even more ginormous than it already is.

I think there might be objections from both dedicated member Sword posters - and moderator(s) - posting Bayonet material there.

I also tend to agree with not2sharp. Bayonets are a distinctly military and firearms accessory - however they also have and do see use as general purpose blades both on and off the battlefield. Swords have been both a military item and civilian item for many centuries probably going back to the bronze age.
