So, many will know of this thread where Barrett is kind enough to share his Bladeforums knife with many of the regulars here.

I whittled an ornament and a jelly spoon using Merle exclusively.

Here they are finished (food safe) and ready for a new home. The spoon is Walnut and the ornament is eastern red Cedar.

I had intended this GAW to be around Christmas time but life happened so it’s Christmas in the spring!

Rules are simple. Just say I’m in. Also, if you want to do a proxy entry for someone that’s fine too. You can enter for both you and a proxy. I’ll draw in say… a week. So, next Sunday.

Good luck and thanks for participating.

A truly inspirational GAW, JM2 JM2 , count me in, please.

Also, I would like to enter Wild Willie Wild Willie , our resident maestro in all things cast iron cooking and such.

Fantastic work, and what a nice idea for a giveaway :) I don't want to cause anyone the trouble of shipping overseas, but may I also nominate Wild Willie Wild Willie please? Good call .577NE .577NE :)
Thanks guys. 😁

Great giveaway, I love carving spoons myself, even if I haven't done one in a while...

I'd like to enter for sbh06 sbh06 if I could.

I've been abstaining from entering a lot of the GAWs lately because I haven't been able to maintain the level of Porch participation I would like, but I would very much like to be in for the Spoon and Ornament.

While the last couple years forum knives processes have added a bitter note to the Forum Knife process, I still treasure my Forum Knives as physical symbols of my time and energies spent here. And participating in the Merle passaround went a long way toward wiping out the sense of bitterness about the acrimony that has surrounded the knives in recent years. I would love to have the reminders of the Merle passaround.

I'd also like to proxy for 315 315

Thanks :)

Thanks!! I’ve been meaning to go back through the Merle adventures and nominate someone who participated as I thought it’d be a neat reminder of time spent. I’ll have to do that before Sunday!

Thanks for the kind words. I personally stay out of the bickering. Forum knives don’t mean much to me. What does mean something is the friendships I’ve made here. I’m glad for you to enter Abby daddy, maybe you don’t have 12 posts a day, but you are certainly a valuable addition to the forum. I enjoy your posts.

abbydaddy abbydaddy and 315 315 you’re in.

Only a few days left. Need more folks to join in the fun. You don’t have to be a daily poster to be welcome to join either.

Getting close. Anyone that wants in better speak up.

Maybe not the most illustrious of GAWs, but it could be as close to a GEC as some folks will ever get.

I disagree with the bolded completely, John. The fact that you took the time and effort to craft these two fine wooden items with Merle and are giving them away shows just as much generosity as those that give away other things here on the Porch.

I’ve been looking through the various travels Merle has been on. How about a proxy entry for beezwax beezwax . I think he’d put that spoon to good use up in Alaska and that ornament he can try and tie around that Moose’s neck when it comes around 🤣

John what an amazing giveaway my friend. This gaw means more than any other I have seen. You took the the time to handcraft those Items and they are absolutely wonderful. Bonus that they was carved with Merle. So cool.

John sent me this jelly spoon and ornament recently and I was blown away by his generosity and the craftmanship. For that reason I am not in but would like to nominate sbh06 sbh06 . Thank you again John for your friendship and for this wonderful giveaway.
