Hey guys im trying to make a forge from a leaf blower and a BBQ grill(a little barrel one). and i was hoping that you could tell me if you think it would be a good idea to put some heat insulating cement, or maybe just some ordinary cement on the sides. would that really make it better? Any thoughts and or advice would really help.

Do some searches on building an "Adobe Forge", and on a "Brake Drum Forge". There is so much wrong with your idea that I wouldn't know where to start.
The blower should be a hair dryer, not a leaf blower.
The forge will need to be lined with fire clay or adobe.
You need to make some changes to it to get a proper draft.

Tai Goo has a good tutorial on converting a wash tub into an adobe forge.

Please, do yourself a favor and keep the leaf blower for the leaves and sand. A hair dryer on high is sometimes too much air. There are some hair dryers that have a high low switch for the blower and heating elements. Then above that is a button that will turn off the heating elements but you still have the air. Get one of these from good will or a thrift store. open it up and take out the button and leave the switch in the off position. Put it back together and use it on your forge. Sometimes on high it can blow glowing embers around outside of the forge. A leaf blower will send hot coals into that pile of leaves you have across the yard.

Watch this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WRrimSk6LzA You can see the embers flying up and out of the forge and he is using a hand crank blower. I made this same basic type of forge and I really like it for charcoal. I use a hair dryer for my air. I used local clay from the river for mine. Google wash tub forge and you should get plenty of ideas.
