BBQ Knives, show'm off

This knife allowed me to have a lot a BBQ's.A ton of cutting and processing was needed before a BBQ took place. My interpretation of a BBQ knife is not a knife to boost your ego, show off,and fondle, but rather one necessary to harvest and process game. The reward is a BBQ.All the embellishments, engravings, and other art like bells and whistles serve no practical purpose besides looks and possibly value to a collector in my opinion.

I Guess I can't play. :(
I have a couple knives that are so close to being perfect its crazy. BUT, I use them and they show it.
Those knives are my ZT 0200 and Spyderco Native 5. My Adamas is also very close. And my Cold Steel Mini AK-47 gets an honorable mention.

Actually in my country there's a "BBQ knife" tradition. Men are expected to bring their own knife when invited to a barbecue and it's a chance to show of a bit. Most custom makers have a couple of barbecue knife models in their line up and old families have blades that have been passed down from one generation to the next (usually rehandled to better fit the latest trends).

Anyway, here's one of mine. The blade (an old Böker) was bought by my great grandfather and this is it's third handle/sheath. The handle and sheath are silver, with gold inlays, by a well known local silversmith in what we call "Olavarría style" (after a city in the Buenos Aires province where it originated).

Sorry for the awful picture.

Que es, verijero o facón?

According to most collectors, a "facón" to be called such needs a guard, and the blades are usually a lot longer. The one in the picture could be either called a "verijero" or, if you agree with Domenech's proposed classification, a "puñal criollo" as well.

Now that's what I'm talk'n about. Very nice.

A BBQ around here is not something you’d get dressed up for; we just get really drunk (as usual).

Yeah. :)
Everybody just hangs out with loud music and eats a ton of junk food and meat.
Maybe plays sports like football of rides four wheelers.
About as far from "fancy" as one could get.

Well, I go to a lot of barbecue contests, I usually have my PM2 on me. :D :p

Kidding aside, really the only knife I've had in a while that I'd consider a "Sunday meetin" or "BBQ" knife is the Spyderco Caly 3 in CF, but I traded that a while back.

I have a few that might qualify (some CRKs, some WHs, etc.) but my favorite would be my Northwoods Fremont Jack (from KSF) covered in a beautiful Mammoth Bark.

Sweet 801. The anodizing adds nice asthetics to an already sweet knife. I carried my stock 801 today...
