BBQ Smokers - Good and Bad?

Sears has a real nice vertical smoker for about $80.00, or get the Webber vertical smoker. You won`t regret it. I have the one from Sears, it is my fourth smoker in 20 years, and the best one yet. I had a small Brinkman and it lasted for years, I bought another Brinkman, NEVER opened the box. About 8 months later I find this Prosmoker at Sears that is like the Webber and over &200 less I grabbed it up. Smoked a Turkey on New Years day. It was fantastic. I smoke, pork shoulders, butts, chickens, hams, ribs, etc. Good luck in your choice. If I had the $300 to spend I would by the Webber because it is made of thicker metal than the Pro I got at Sears.

Do those little metal boxes you put in a grill work very well? I recognize it won't smoke the meat as well as a traditional smoker but, will they impart some good flavor into a hamburger or steak?

Thanks!

Sid the boxes will work but my opionion is to buy wood chips of choice (if using charcoal) soak in H2O and put directley on heat. Before you buy a box( if using a gas grill just fold wet chips in foil pouch(poke holes in it) and walla!

My younger brother gave me one of those boxes and some chips a few years ago. I was skeptical. But, I'm happy to report, they work amazingly well.
