BBQ Spatula

Come on- a Busse BBQ spatula makes as much sense as a toilet brush with INFI handle. ;)

I think A Heavy spatula is a great idea, seriously

Have any of you seen those heavy thick spatulas they use to make smash burgers with they are very useful.

Throw a grind on the front edge and maybe one side I think it would be useful.

Yes, we have one, a Dexter Russel from the local restaurant supply house. $25. Works great.

If you want to go wild, Google 'Smashula'

Cool, Thanks so much for the help.
I will give it a google ;)

Still would like a Busse made one if it ever happens.

Correction. Not Dexter russel. Just Dexter S285-4. Because I have girlie hands, I use something else to help with the initial smash. Dave won't have that problem.

I like the idea. I would buy that. I mean.. assuming it's not $400 🤣
That’s kind of the problem though - it would likely HAVE to be ~$400+ if it’s going to be a large cutting instrument with a Busse logo on it.
I know there are folks out there willing to spend $400 on an INFI spatula, but probably not very many.
Now a Scrapyard spatula on the other hand…. ;)

I have joked about wanting the "Busse Combatula" since the day of the prank release of the BB13 with friends and family, even some who aren't a part of this community. I think it's hilarious, and I love the fun idea of a joke product actually being produced, but the only way I'd see it happening is a whacky one-off or a ganza event of some kind where there are just a few for those who really want them - I'm not even sure I'd buy one unless I had a bunch of disposable cash at the moment

Talking about whacky one-offs, I’d love a Busse Combat Fork to go with my steak knife. Maybe even a spoon, or perhaps a spork….

with an edge for cutting up all those baby back ribs....

Please?!

I’d be all over it if it was a CS logo’ed piece.

Yeah ... well ..... This piglet considers the idea of a Bussekin BBQ spatula to be silly. YMMV. IMnsHO companies do best at what they do best. They should focus and not try to be all things to all customers.

Busse and Co make bombproof, TEOTWAWKI hard use edged weapons. That is their ethos. The steel choices, blade designs, and heat treatments are all to that end.

Find the absolute best grill spatula out there right now. Wide flat head, tapered edge for getting under food, but thick enough with a sturdy handle to flip a big porterhouse. Bog standard stainless does that. What could/would INFI bring to the table beside a much higher price point? Do you plan to split the wood for your smoker/grill with your spanking new Busse spatula? Please.

Retrogrouch out. Stomping piglets at the Trough used to be the way. Get off my lawn.
My thoughts on using a spatula on a porterhouse is “you’re doing it wrong”. But then again, I cook a porterhouse a little different than most people, I cook it so the strip is medium and the filet is rare, unless the person I am serving is a heathen and then I will bring the filet up to medium rare. It’s not hard to do at all, you just have to control the heat in your grill so you have one side of the meat in a hotter zone.

I have never had a complaint.

There are plenty of knives in the Busse(kin) lineup named after meats; like the Pork Chop.
Also.. this company has made non knife things before like 1911 grips. This is not outside the realm of possibility by any means. It makes sense logically (to me anyway.) Not everyone needs a knife to cut off car doors or 1911 grips. Everyone needs a spatula of some sort. Js
I would buy it if it was a CS piece. Not because there isn’t a great BBQ tool available for under $50. But because I really enjoy Busse products and I typically buy everything a company sells when their product are awesome and their customer service/relations are amazing.

Both of you reminded me of my pizza cutter thread. I would love it if there was an ulu at some point. I wish I could cross post here someday when I’m bored I’ll revive the pizza cutter thread.

Something like this piece of junk that I swipe the pic from that internet store.

Bring on the Smatchula!!!

I agreed. Bring on the Smatchula! Then for campfire cooking, the Smatchet (if it doesn’t exist already)!

I can personally attest to the fact that a battle grade AK47 makes arguably the best pizza slicer ever - it became the only thing me and my roommates would use. Perfect slices all the way across, no topping displacement, and easy angle consistency. Just put it across the pizza, press on the spine in a rolling motion, rotate the pizza and repeat.

You're probably right. I mean.. we ARE talking about a spatula with around what? A 60 ~ 80 hour heat treat haha
