Can someone please post a picture of the BCCI 110 with G10 scales, and BG42 blade.

Thank you, Joe L.

Photo in thread, bottom knife of first photograph....

I don't mess with 110s so that is my total contribution....

Thank you very much 300 bucks. I ordered one and wanted to see what it looked like.

As I understand it those that are left are the last of the Bos treated BG42 knives, which is better than any such steel has any right being. I was late in this game and only got 1 BG42 110 from the custom shop before they stopped that option.

Speaking to Pete the other day I was lamenting the fact that we no longer have the option of BG42 customs, and he suggested I purchase an extra BCCI 110 for about what I have into my other custom.

I couldn't refuse.

I was trying to get a mental picture of it to see which goes in the safe, and which goes in my pocket.

Of course there is still the "For sale by individuals" section. I see customs on sale there fairly often.

My personal grail is a Ti/BG42 upgrade. Someday! Thanks again, Joe L.

Ok,
Now you made me feel bad for taking the shortcut to get your info because I am really busy. I bought one of the BCCIs and gave it to my only nephew for Christmas. So here are my additional pics for your look-see. 300Bucks

Close-up of scale construction

Now I don't feel AS guilty.

Really?...I hear they command a pretty good price...What do you think a Ti 560 w/BG-42 blade would be worth??? Let's assume it has never been sharpened and has been stored in a desk... :p

Chickentrax, with all do respect knives are worth what you can sell them for. In a case like this a lot would depend on lockup, alignment, condition of Ti, etc. I assume it's a rebladed 560 from when they still did that.

If it was mine I wouldn't sell it for any price. Others might not bat an eye at it.

So, What do you think it's worth. :) Joe

300Bucks, thanks for the additional pictures. I must admit it looks better than it did in my imagination. I'm a wood, or Stag kind of guy and my imagination was pulling bad tricks on me. It's also a bad sign when there are leftovers. Why there was in this case I don't know as it's a good looking knife. Thanks again, Joe

Joe,

Joe Houser either has a BG42/Ti or recently sold one, send him a email and ask him. He's good about getting back to people.

You really need a magnifier to see the edge detail of the BCCI BG-42/G10's scales. The black G10 is only the upper half - the bottom half is a red/black Micarta - lost to most folks, sadly. I sent a poorly fitted scale variant back last fall - I believe at least one other was reported here. I wonder if they were refitted with more similar two-layer scales - or just the G10? I think the red/black Micarta on top would have been nice.

Nice knives... I ended up with a spare, my son said he had 'enough 110s' and didn't want anymore - and I thought I raised him right! Well, he liked the 850 Bravo I bought him for Christmas, and I carry a BCCI beauty with me. I had carried my second custo 110 - el cheapo at the time - orange Fiji wood, nickel silver bolsters, and BG-42 - $65 base plus $19 for the upgrade blade - the best $84 knife I've ever bought! Great blade material... keeps an edge quite well... haven't attempted a re-sharpening - yet.

I'm not busy...supposed to be reading a white paper on Network Attached Storage (YAWN!).

Bottom knife...no apologies from me for being "dirty"...it's a real user

I took my wife to a church 'dinner and a movie' - a deal for $5/ea, as the dinner was steak, ear-o-corn, & baked potatoe - the movie was 'Fireproof'. Scrappy but tasty steak... out came my EDC BCCI BG-42 110. Little pressure was applied - mostly just the blade's weight. Gristle was more of a challenge. Again, I was prepared... to other's chagrin. Bucks are neat!

Very nice knives Buckaholic. How does the damascus cut & sharpen in comparison to 420HC, 154cm, S30V, BG42, etc.? Thanks, Joe

Mastiff,

On the Buck web site under "Web Specials" they are still showing BG42/G10s available. I don't know if these are the remaining knives built in the same run as the two I have or if Buck decided to do another run.

I think I got mine in September and I was under the impression they were close to being out of stock at the time. As Stainz says, mine have the red micarta liner. There is no mention of the liner in the listing on the site.

Also, my two came in Black LE boxes with just a white lable w/ just G10 110 BG42 . The site listing does have a Build Out number which, I guess doesn't mean anything necessarily. When everyone was snapping up the G10s, we were told that the G10 run was in part to use up the remaining inventory of BG42 blades.

Anyway, BG42 is supposed to be retired as a blade steel at Buck.

Flatlander, they are the same ones according to the guy I spoke to. He stated they all hadn't sold out and there were some left. They are the last of the BG42 knives though. Joe

i was at post falls and looked at what was out for sale..
a few collectors took note then of missfit scales and
they did not sell well ..
my understanding IS (and i could be wrong, not prefect by a long way)
there were more then a jest a few sent back and replaced for that reason..
enough that buck looked in to why it happened..
the explnation as to why it happened is lost to my weak mind..
could be they still have the ones sent back for sale in which case are worth what a bg42 blade is worth..
i was able to get 6 with good fit..and some offs from employees as well..but lost 2 not long ago..

Thanks!
The Damascus cuts like crazy. Needs to be touched up more often though...but that's a breeze. Seems like the only steel I can sharpen decently with a stone (I stink at sharpening).

BUT, the older Damascus is better, to me, than the new Stainless Steel Damascus that is in the pic. That ol' skool stuff is toothier and wicked.

Flatlander thank you for mentioning the "Web Specials" on the Buck site. I had never thought to look in there. I ordered a BG42 G10 and Ranger with RAM scales and 440C blade.

I was in the Post Falls store in early December and was told the last G-10 BG-42 was in the case and I bought it. The one I bought in Sept. is my going out for dinner knife and a great steak knife, you bet. It has become my favorite 110 but just wish it had finger grooves. BBJ
