BCCI 25th Anniversary, Post Falls

This is a great thread. I was not able to attend due to financial and scheduling reasons. I appreciate all the members who posted the great photographs and videos of the event. I was impressed with the 25th knives and the trip. I wish I could have attended or gotten some of the club knives or special offerings at the event. Thanks again for sharing your great experiences and for the Buck Family opening their business and home to the BCCI members.

That's the same as it was five yrs. ago when I tried to get them to log on to this forum. I was amazed. Many have disdain for computers and then when they did log on they saw a lot of argumentative members on here. Back then every little date was argued over. Which these gentlemen collectors don't care for. The second generation collectors (us) enjoy the PC and sort of hold our nose and use the ignore features until it passes. Still, it went on way too long. So, it will be a long arduous sell to many collectors. DM

The big picture of how this outstanding forum fits has many BCCI members never having seen it and have only heard of the Buck forum. I showed the forum to one attendee and no skyrockets went off for him immediately. Many BCCI member don't embrace the internet at all. Old school person to person only members. Acceptance of computers, internet and this forum has a hill to climb.
I didn't get this quote with my previous post. DM

howdy david m
normanly I am david m also LOL
yes I joined 4 ? years before you did ... there were not a lot of old timers on then
mostly those who joined with in a year or two of myself..
yep some time we had a lot of wording going on .. kinda at times I was a loose cannon I guess
some times I miss the lively 'discussions' but most times I don't ..
like you I now like the political correctness of the forum
but it can get a little less the highluster with some of the same old discussions we have done in the past
the youngsters jump on the chance to look some thing up and post the answer first..
the amount of data on the web back then was much less and harder to find..
only way to know it fast was to keep it in your head!
ya I guess I miss the gooser most .. pack rat next ect..
but thread drift
many of the folks at post falls do not know of the blade forums
as well as half of the employees I asked about BF of
but many did know of the forums more then I thought did
but yea many don't use the internet for any thing

The Buck Factory, centered in this long shot (many cars in front of it), taken from the Northern Idaho Trail while on a morning walk. The trail, paved, smooth and wide, runs from Coeur d' Alene thru Post Falls to Spokane and runs along the river and freeway.

Fancy bug, dragonfly, near where above photo was taken. Reminded me of anodized titanium. Buck doesn't like titanium as it is considered a fire hazard when being worked with.

Nice weed near the Buck Factory in the largely undeveloped industrial park in Post Falls.

Upstairs at the Buck Factory you will find a museum of Buck cutlery, anvils, mounted trophy animals and windows looking onto part of the factory production floor. Here is a look into a display case. Notice the Grand Slam box of four knives. I wear a terrific Grand Slam brass belt buckle but don't have the set of knives.

The next display case. These are great display cases and the knives are outstanding. A lot to take in while you are standing there.

The last display case on that side of the room. Display cases line opposite sides of the room, left and right as you come up the stairs. The far wall has windows onto to some of the factory floor, where the magic takes place.

A stunner. Now be still my heart. From a case shown above in post #134, close up, as good as I can do thru glass.

The next display. Those vintage sets, bottom shelves, are sight to behold. A collecting goal, fill in the red velvet display with the appropriate knife, for some.

I goofed this close shot up so now I have a legit reason to return to Post Falls. It is of a vintage reblade folder and a vintage paring knife. Also shown in the photo directly above, on the right, third shelf up from the bottom. I'll try to find a better photo (I took so many photos it takes twelve hours just to burn them to two DVDs).
