has been posted on the club website.

Lots of great info as always but also four different 25th anniversary knives are offered for order. I'm very excited about these which include two varieties of 110 and 124 all with lucite handles/scales, nickle silver fittings and several blade finishes and or materials. I'm for sure getting the 110 with D2 blade but haven't decided which 124 to get? Thanks to all at the BCCI for another great club experience!!

Well, I gotta say this........these are by far the greatest selections in quite a few years.

They may be the best EVER (I'd say that, but I haven't been a member long enough).

Anyhow, fantastic offerings.......first time I've ever been excited about the Club Knives offered.

Well done.

Thanks for the Heads Up Badhammer.

D2 is one of my favorite steels. Had the 124 satin blade been done in D2, that may have been too much temptation to resist buying one!

Happy New Year,
Peter

Know what you mean. After reading the descriptions of the two 110 offerings I was all hyped thinking the 124's would be the same. I'm still going to get one of the 124, probably the satin without the logo. My only real dilemma now is whether to get one or two of the D2, 110s. For sure want one to keep as a safe queen/collectible but I'd also love to have one as a user as I'm a D2 fan as well.. Has Buck ever offered the 110 with D2 previously?

I've never heard of a 110 in D2 before.

I suspect it's possible that there will probably be blades left over and we will probably see some runs of regular 110s in D2 in the future.

Or......maybe not.

One never knows.......but Buck is smart enough to know that such a knife would be a good seller, so I think they will likely find a way to market some as the days and years go by.

Thanks. I didn't recall it being offered before but wasn't sure. If not regular production or maybe the Custom Shop I could see some type of a build out offered to BCCI members using left over D2 blades. I'm pretty stoked about these new anniversary models and even though I love the brass of the regular 110, going with nickle on these really goes well with the lucite. Very unusual scale material, never before used steel (for this particular model) and nickle hardware....winner all the way around IMHO!

I'll stop reading this thread HERE.....If BG is "excited" and seemingly satisfied, this must be fantasy........

The newsletter is on the BCCI website. I didn't get one in the mail either.

Peter

That's because it's still at the printers. It should ship soon, you can see it before the snail mail version comes on the BCCI web site!

Funny I just checked the BCCI yesterday and was wishing they would post it:rolleyes:.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!!!!!!

I thought that the BCCI custom shop advert. Was some pretty exciting news!! And that Lucite 110 with D2, Youwser!

Ged, I've wondered that myself.?? It has a good name but I'm wondering if it lives up to its reputation in edge retention. I know it does in being a near stainless, taking a fine edge, being a fine grain steel. Its an expensive steel and American made. One can probably get by with low maintenance on it. In sharpening I've heard different views some say it takes this edge better or that one. It has good lateral strength and gave good results on a Charpy tests. Still, I want this one, even if it were offered with a different handle material, in order to put it thru the steps. I think the board members did well in offering us members these knives in their configuration and I hope members will purchase them. DM

Those are great looking knives. I'm trying to research, but why do you like D2 steel so much?

Actually, I would choose BG42 over D2, but the reason I like it is from my limited experience with it. It takes an edge and holds it VERY well, but there is another factor sort of hard to put into words. It has a different coloring than other steels. Kind of darker with a different level of shine than most other steels.

As I said, my experience is NOT extensive and does not include any side by side testing with other steels. Best described as a "personal preference".

I know there's no way the average person can test steels well enough for definitive results, but I read thousands of posts on steels and just go by the consensus of the knife community.

Peterinct's conclusions mirror the conclusions of the majority.

One of the attractions of D2 is that not a lot of knives are made with it. Thus when you get the rare shot at a 110 in D2.......you best grab one......or two.......or........more.

:)

Wouldn't you just know it.

These gems arrive on the scene a matter of days after I've buried my bank book in a metal tube in an undisclosed location... !@#$%^&

Now were did I put that map and the shovel? :):)

Wowzers trousers.
My order is in . !
I couldn't decide on what to choose, so i picked them all :)

I'm an idiot sometimes...I'm on that website quite a bit looking at old newsletters, don't know why I didn't think to look there first, thanks for the heads up...my check for a D2 110 is on the way to VA.
I like D2, I like BG42, I like S30...let's just say if it's not 420 I'll buy it, nothing wrong with 420 but I can pick that up at Wally world and I have enough of it to last, mmm, several lifetimes.
Cheers!

Just some information for people that dont know .
Bcci are ordering 150-250 on each models maybe more depending on demand.
They wont have their own serial numbers, but will have COA.
And obviously they anticipate the d2 to be huge !
