As I said on the "Been looking at the 2010 catalog" thread:

A member discount card was in my packet. All that info is at home now, so I'll have to check on it when I return this evening. For the card, you order direct from the website, I think.

The card says:
Members Discount Program...

(it directs me to the Buck website, with instructions for signing in. With a special number...)

"you will automatically be approved to purchase products at your Collector's Club Discount rate. "

"To make future purchases, simply go to... (the Buck website, www.buckknives.com) and log in"

you order directly from the website. I have not yet used the card, because I'm planning out purchases and awaiting the 2010 catalog to be posted on the website. :):D:)

News to me. I don't recall any card like that in my packet.

Please keep us posted on how it goes for you.

I'll be ordering several things soon once the 2010 stuff starts to be released and am trying to find the best way to do that.

That's intesting. I didn't get a card when I joined. The card I got in the 2009 meeting, was the size of a credit card, only lighter plastic. I was brown on top and the serial number was at the bottom. The card said to sign in and register. I was told the card was good for two purchases at a special discount. Is your card something like mine?

I guess one way to find out how much discount you get and on how many knives, is to try it out.

humm i do not recall that card either
but it is nice that some got it !!

This may be new. The packet intro letter said they are constantly trying to update and improve their services, so this may be a prototype or something. Also, I did not receive a membership knife when joining, so this may be in lieu of something like that. I don't know how much the discount is, or how many purchases are allowed. I'll keep you posted when I actually do log in and purchase from the 2010 lineup using this card.

I should say this discount was not the reason I joined, but it is nice and I was curious about it. I've been perusing the newsletters and there is a ton of history there. Very interesting.

My card looks something like that, with a serial number on the back at the bottom.

I have one of those as well, but have never used it and don't remember where I got. It would be interesting to know what that discount is; I doubt that it is going to match LO's 50% for club members.

Shoot a email to John Foresman, whose email is on the Collectors Club Web page and he will give you the details...Everyone in attendance at meeting at 09 Blade Show got one from Joe Houser. Good for 40% off for two knives. Believe the card is new LT incentive.

I upped my BCCI membership to lifer in late 09, I did not get sent one of these discount cards. I sent John Foresman an email and asked him to also post here to help eliminate this confusion.

If you are a BCCI member, Larry Oden give us a very nice discount as has been stated.

300 Bucks is right. Joe Houser gave all the members who attended the annual meeting at the Blade Show this past June these discount cards. These were first introduced in 2009. We are now sending them out with new membership packets. If you send me a self addressed stamped envelope, I'd be glad to mail you one. My contact info is in each newsletter.

What is the discount with the card? I see "300Bucks" said 40%, but I kind of remember CJ Buck saying it was 60%, the highest percentage discount they ever gave out, but I wasn't taking notes and it was 7 months ago. Thanks.

That could be opposite sides of the same coin; 40% off the price equals the knife for 60% of its cost.

That would be 50% + 10% (or 15% if an annual member) plus shipping from Buck to LO and then shipping from LO to you. My last one was a Quickfire, $50 retail. My actual cost delivered from LO as a Life member was $41.76

A 40% discount from Buck would be $20 off, so $30+ $8.50 shipping (Priority Mail). Total $38.50 for the same knife delivered with the 40% discount using the card. If you used the discount card for a knife or knives totaling $50 or more (after discount) , the shipping will be free, so yeah it does beat the normal club discount.

Is that discount % off the "List" price or the "street" price. List I would guess. Which means it doesn't really amount to much. List prices are typically VERY high compared to prices that can be gotten at places like Walmart.

As an example: at a local show last year I bought a Buck/Mayo TNT NIB. The fellow told me he was giving it to me for "less than cost". I did not know the List price or the dealer cost but I was willing to pay $150. I was surprised to see the list was something like $350!

So 50% of $50 is $25 plus 10% of $25 (which is the manner in which LO calculates that 10% rather than from the list price) is $2.50 which totals $27.50, compared to the $30 resulting from Buck's 40% discount, for the selling price of that Quickfire. That means shipping would have to be $14.76 for your delivered price of $41.76 - WOW!!

$14.26 to be exact. $6.96 Buck to LO, $7.30 LO to me. Priority Mail shipping direct from Buck to me is $8.50 if I buy less than $50 worth, if more than $50 it's free.

As a matter of fact, I have two more on the way to me as we speak that I bought (from an online knife dealer) for $33.95 each and that includes shipping.

With a 40% discount card, your's would have been:

$96 (I assume due to your subtotal) minus 40%=$57.60 Free shipping to you direct from Buck due to it still being over $50 after the discount.

Ok, got it . Freight, Idaho to Indiana . Inorder to get my discount card I'd have to mail John a letter . Their trying different things . DM
