May issue arrived.
Great story of a gent giving his dad a slipjoint as a Christmas gift that'll put a tear in your beer. Thanks Chuck...what a great story and I can understand why the knife was held in regard in the used condition. Awesome for you to offer to fix it up though.

The Member knife...a 111FG Elk with mirror blade, club logo, engraved membership number, and the COA.

Also, a design drawing of the various tang stamps through 2010.

A write up on the 401/2 (Kalinga/Akoinua) history by Joe "Jake Killer" Houser scribed in his easy to read and comphrehensive manner.

Larry Oden does a detail page and a half article on the 116 Caper but covers many aspects of the 1xx series...barrel-nuts, handles, pommels, spacers, tang stamps, BCS and special runs.

Other articles I haven't read yet (came in less than an hour ago) including notes from the new Marketing dept peeps..

Those that are not members, you are missing a great little newsletter of insight, history, detail, and the overall culture of Buck knives. Also, the member only knives that are produced.

Snooze = Lose.

but he teases in good fath knowing we will soon get ours...
i hope!!
quick thought... yes i did check the mail ....:(

Yeah Jim and Decaf...
I know that most of you regular gents get it. I am hoping to show those that don't get the newsletter the varied content of what they are missing.
Plus, for this issue, I couldn't resist lettin' ya members know about the member issue knife. Pic is too cool for school

I do not want this newsletter, I do not want this newsletter, I do want this newsletter, I want this newsletter.

I have fallen off the wagon. I need help

Bought that Akonua at the gun show a while back,

Had to make a pitstop on the way home from San Antonio and behold,,, a Bass Pro next exit.
Brought home the cpm154

Yesterday snagged a 121, and a 650

a while ago,,,, a 110 and a 180.....

I am doomed,,,,:o :o

and I just remembered that there is still a club knife yet to arrive....good thing it is already paid for. So I guess that one don't count..

goose does this 111 have bolsters ?
if i recall the original 111 had no bolsters (aluminum)
then the new model had both bolsters (ironwood) then it went to one bolster (stag)

B-Man...It's not the old 111 Classic Urban Cowboy gig. It has bolsters front and rear.

here are some pics of the various ones oout there
i swiped a couple of the pics from goose , thanks for the info and pics goose
i am glad to hear it has both bolsters i dont really care for the single bolster style

So a 111 is smaller than a 110?

While on the subject of variants--is there a 110 sized knife with the pronounced "hook" at the front---like the 112 has?? I'm liking my 112's more and more over my 110's just because of that little feature.

the current 111 is full sized like a 110
yes in the past some 110's were made with a hook
and some were 'done' like the first finger groves
at the request of 'employees' for some reason..

 ...Well...To keep this thread on track...I just got my newsletter and I do believe I may have to have that 111 with Elk this year. I see it's blade will be polished but I didn't note what steel was gonna be used. I'd guess it will be 420HC...anyone hear what it will be for sure yet??...

I am thinking the same way Darryl!
I like the look of this years knife and I currently don't own a 111...

I just completed reading my news letter. Yep...I'll be getting the Elky 111. Dick's article on hard to find Bucks only made me feel sad that my wife missed the bid on the 124 stag/colt etch....only 40 made :(.....so I may never get a shot at another one (Oh well; it's the thought that counts). Anyone got one they would like to sell to me????? No...Ok...how about a red martica...LOL. Can't blame a guy for trying now...Can ya?
