Any thoughts on the BCCI annual Shokwood 117, pro or con?

The handle is all wrong.

Would have been all over it if the handle wasn’t completely out of wack for the size. (102 handle on a 117 knife doesn’t sit well with many folks I gather)

I'm not a fan of plastic colored resin and wood, it does not appeal to me at all. Now looking at the finished product, I also don't care for the super fat spacers. Maybe they should have placed some shockwood spacers there! I'm sure those who bought one will love them.

I'd really like to see a picture of these next to a regular 117 and 102.

I agree I’d like to see a comparison photo whenever they start hitting mailboxes. Also for a couple hundred clams I’d hoped they’d have done something other than 420HC (unless shockwood is some kind of rare/expensive/etc?)

Shokwood is the most expensive handle upgrade when building a custom 119 on the Buck web page. Elk handle $135.00 up charge, Shokwood handle $150.00 up charge.

I never noticed the 102 sheath, the one for sale on the Bay has a 117 sheath.

I just spoke with Tim. What a nice guy!

They definitely are 117s. But the handle is just smaller. And he says they're a really good looking knife.

He's boxing them now......

I had originally ordered one, and then cancelled when I became aware of the handle size.
He was making sure I still didn't want it..... That's cool of him to reach out like that!

The first rule of collecting, " buy what you love".

......this way at least the knife will end up with another member. I'm not a flipper.

BCCI comes up with some odd creations at times. It doesn't surprise me when they have trouble selling some of them. It would be nice to have a little input. It is a club after all and we are paying members. I guess the alternative is no special knives so I'll keep quiet.

I ordered one, unaware of the smaller handle. I hope to receive it later this week. I'll post a pic or two. My understanding is they are shipped with an ill-fitting 102 sheath.
