Bdc

The full size BDC is a dark horse that was not available for years. It started life Pen knife size. I and others lobbied over the years for a larger model, able to really chop and do some work. Yangdu brought it out. It really does chop well. One of the most complete blades HI makes. An all around good looking, get in the woods and start cooking, Blades.

Thanks bubbamets for the congrats and a big thanks to munk, Bill, Yangdu and all those forumites that have come before us who shaped (literally) the future of HI khuks. We appreciate where HI is now.

Thanks for the answers.:D I'm not sure I want to buy anything yet, I was just wondering, but it sounds like HI is top notch. I'll be sure and give Yangdu an email when I want something. Maybe after I get a job. :D

keep a look out for yangdus "deal of the day" aka "DOTD"
a very very nice khukuri can be had for $50+- nicely priced to test the waters.

happy sharking :p

Khukuri Gang and Fellow Sharks:

Just received the 18" BDC and it's beautiful (thanks Aunt Yangdu). I haven't had a chance to test it much yet so I thought I would at least take a pic of it with its little sister (my 14" BDC). I'll start a new thread when metal hits the wood.

thats a very nice stand that the 14" bdc is resting on... :D
just curious... did you make it?

No. Found that beauty on ebay...but it would be easy to build. It surprisingly works very well with the khuks.

how is the blade being held up? pics pics pics :D
thats exactly what im looking for to display a single khuk

Jaiofspam,
Here goes. Here are a couple shots of the 18" in the stand...just to show it can hold a bigee.

And lastly a shot of the two together again. Without reviewing now I would like to say that this 18" BDC is well built, looks great and feels better than any other khukuri that I own. I will repeat that...it feels better than any other. It has weight to it but it's not top heavy like my 18" ganga ram. It may chop less (maybe..we'll see in the test) but it feels much better to hold (no rings). When I review my chopping I'll say more. Note: if you don't have an 18" BDC get one just to feel the balanced weight.

More later...

edit: please excuse the poor picks. I'll polish em up and have them sticking in wood next time.

Great looking BDCs you have there Dan. I love the 14" one; some activity in the horn, great lines, and very low cho.

Vim does some great work, and I bet they will both be terrific work horses.

I look forward to your review.
