As the title says, be extra vigilant on eBay regarding counterfeit items. I reported a clearly fake CRK to eBay on 4/25/25.

eBay's response was: "We looked into your report and didn’t find the listing to be in violation of our policy. This determination was made using automation or artificial intelligence."

So I reported it to CRK thinking the manufacturer would have more weight. Today I got the response back from CRK "The knife is a counterfeit. Unfortunately, eBay is not taking these listings down even if we request that they be taken down." It is disappointing when eBay ignores the OEM regarding counterfeits.

I don't know if something at eBay recently changed. About 6-8 weeks ago, I saw what I thought was a fake CRK listed, but was not 100% sure. So I reported it to CRK to let them confirm and handle it. That listing was removed.

It’s basically useless for an individual to report a counterfeit to eBay. Every sale that happens on eBay they make a profit so obviously they won’t remove something unless forced to.

The only thing that can help as far as eBay is concerned is if CRK is registered with their Verified Rights Owner (VeRO) Program. That may help them remove counterfeits.

I have reported numerous counterfeit Spydercos over the years to little effect. I see counterfeits of all the top brands, some even promoted. Money talks and the Chinese makers have absolutely flooded Ebay & Etsy. At this point I have to believe that Ebay, Etsy, and US Customs have completed given up.

I belong to another hobby related community and same thing. Counterfeit (obvious) and eBay doesn't do anything about it.

You just have to spread the word and made sure people know like you are doing here.

Thanks

The solution ( or rather several solutions to several problems) is to only purchase your knives from reputable dealers. You didn't save anything when you ended up purchasing a counterfeit.

I reported an obvious counterfeit Benchmade (made in China with m390 for pennies on the dollar) and their ignorant AI claimed no problem found. Yuan talks louder than doing the right thing.

I cannot tell you how many fake Leupold Scopes I've reported on there, (many of which are being listed at $1600 or so for fake MK4's) yet ebay leaves these unanswered.

Ebay has been flooded with fake items, the biggest giveaway on it seems to be prices. You know that Red Dot sells for $700.00 not $60.00, and it is garbage to begin with. I have been worn out turning bogus items into ebay and manufacturers, no one does anything about it. If it was my company's items being made by some cheapskate maker, I would go full blown nuke until the listings were gone.

This problem is more than right against wrong, we are into the age of evil against good. That is my take on it. I have been the victim of buying junk only a few times on ebay and once they refused to make good on a fake watch. The only way I was able to get things resolved was taking the issue to law enforcement. I am positive that the expense was not as high as it was, even law enforcement may have not helped and certainly not for a knife costing merely a few hundred dollars.

I have other things I like to collect. There are several sellers that sell dozens of fake and fantasy items every day. It is just flat out theft, but when I report it eBay does nothing. I've reported these people dozens of times. Nothing. They continue to enable theft and let their members get the shaft. $$$ I guess is all they care about. The sad part is these uneducated buyers leave the scum bags positive feedback.
