Be Honest!

I give it an 8. Love the handle, even a short blade should have an adequate length handle on it, like this one.

Now, I hate to say this, being probably the prototype Busse koolade drinker, but I was disappointed in its sharpness. The great majority of even my large Busses were sharper out of the box. It does not come near what my Active Duties were out of the box. The potential is certainly there, however, for it to become a real razor. So I plan to work on the edge of one and put the other away as-is.

I did notice this too. My custom shop AD is the sharpest blade I own. I was hoping this one was as sharp given it's svelt thickness.

Time to bust out my new Edge Pro!

My hellrazor was the sharpest out of the box, followed by my gamewarden. They were sharp, but by no means razors. My game warden scares hair off of my arm now. My batacs were unimpressive, as was my sus scrofa. I've come to expect great knives with not great edges from busse combat. Maybe they're letting Jerry do the sharpening on some. Even he says that it really doesn't matter whether he sharpens the edge or the spine, it will be equally dull regardless.

"I personally fall into the category of 'hand sharpening challenged'... The spine of the knife is usually sharper than the edge when I'm finished applying my magic stone sharpening technique."-- Jerry Busse (from www.bussecombat.com)

I think 'you're mileage will vary' applies....although the customs and LE's are always pretty consistently sharp.

Letz see if I can get Jerry to make a new run with different handle colors.
Orange, Olive Green, Coyote Tan...
Oh, and Red. :D
No Regrets but I'd wish I had my Cultie back.

There you go again

What no chisel? ;):p

Seriously though, I do love mu culti

Timing is excellent on this necro thread! I just a few weeks ago switched my edc from Heavy Duty to my "working mans" Culti. The extra thick black canvas micarta scales feel great in the hand and the added RC to the blade makes it one heck of a slicer that is strong enough to pop a soda cap when needed, no damage.

Thanks, gang.
No chisel on the Cultie, Bruce.
Jerry- Please think about another run.

This is crazy. I started carrying mine again two weeks ago. Great blade. Very well used now!

Does anyone who has one think the handle is too long?
I don't have one so I can't say. I will however say that my four fingers measure about 3 1/16" and it looks like the handle is a LOT longer than that.

I'm not the biggest fan of 3 finger knives, but I would have been a lot happier if the grip was shorter on the Cultellus; no more than 3 1/2".

You, my friend, are a kindred spirit. I love all of my small Busses and kin. I prefer the ones with a smaller handle, 3 1/2 inches is pretty much ideal. The butt of the handle rests perfectly in the palm of my hand. Very discrete carry, the handle never bothers me (poke in ribs) thanks to its shortness. My R3 from the swamp is my current favorite vertical carry.
However. My new HACK warden in a horizontal sheath is pretty sweeeeet in the comfort department.

Time to plug some great people:
Inside the pants (it can be used in several ways) carry kydex sheath by David Brown :thumbup::thumbup:
Leather sheath (horizontal/ vertical) carry by Dwayne Puckett AKA Leatherman :thumbup::thumbup:

Yes, I know, shameless promotion of those 2 guys. There are other great sheath makers on the forums. I believe that the service providers/ craftsmen that have been here a while are probably all good AND trustworthy. But, those are the 2 that I've dealt with, very pleased with the quality of the "toys" they made for me. Don't mean to ruffle anyone else's feathers.

Cultellus does really well in the kitchen, but it gets very little belt time for me as it would mean bumping my Meaner HACK out of its steady edc position and that's not gonna happen. :)
