I have been lurking around here for awhile just reading and learning. So, I would like to thank everybody for the answers and advice even though you didn't know that you were giving it to me.
This is my second knife. I made it by stock removal from 440c stainless. It is professionally heat treated. The handle is bubingo. I am having a blast working on knives. And like I say I am trying to read and learn all that I can.
I am also working om two more blades right now and am doing them all by hand with a file. Trying to take more time and get them flatter than this one.
So please be honest and let me know what you see. What can I do better or different? I probably have a good idea but I am asking for your advice.Thanks.

Man, I can't offer anything. The knife looks nice! I FINALLY got the right feel for files. I did get a sander too, but found out the hard way you gan do alot of damage with one! LOL. Me, I'm still behind you in the learning curve.

Looks good. Pins, and thong hole look good. I think it needs more shape in the finger guard/choil area. Can't really tell by the pics but it looks like your grind could come up higher. The knife has good overall flow with the exception of the finger guard.
Keep at it and lets see another.:D

Welcome to the BF.
The knife looks like a good start.
The drop at the guard/ricasso area seems a little too low. Grinding it back a bit may make the handle less bulky looking. Rounding up the handle a tad might be good ,too. The tendency on first knives is to make the handle cross section a rounded corner rectangle, but what you are looking for is more of an egg shape. The blade looks like it could use a bit more bevel to the grind line. All these are minor changes for the next knife ( but could be done on this one without any trouble). The knife ,as is, is still one to be proud of.
