Beach Wear

when I go swimming I take a BM CQC7 in Ti, works well, never rusts, light weight, clip holds tight, I go to the beach once a week.

I was wondering if anyone was going to suggest the Ti BM CQC7. IMHO, good choice for the beach. I don't have one any longer but I think it would be perfect for that particular use.

Hey CYA, do you know if fixed bladed knives are legal? Same length restriction at least, I would assume.

rockspyder,

Yes, fixed blades are legal. I'm pretty sure the 4" blade restriction also applies. But if you want to carry something bigger then just put it on your belt(with shirt tucked in) and you shouldn't have any problems.

Thanks CYA. Actually, all the fixed blades that I would consider taking have less than 4 inch blades, now that I think about it. But, it's still good to know what the rules are.

Clocker,

You didn't specify what you wanted to do with the knife. If general purpose is your aim, I have carried an SAK in the surf fishing and they don't rust. They don't have a clip and must be placed in a zipped pocket. I have found that sand in the works is more of a problem than rust. The Spyderco's do seem to stain even when you wash them off right after getting out of the saltwater. I haven't tried the Tuff Cloth yet. This year I carried one of those $5 knock off knives. It worked fine and the blade holds a edge rather well for such a cheap knife. I'm not relying on it for survival anyway, just general cutting chores while fishing. My son and I have also lost more knives in the surf than ruined them from corrosion or sand gunk. I now keep a lanyard attached to whatever knife I carry in the surf. I am cheap and don't like losing anything.

Let us know how you do on your trip and your decision.

I just got to have one because, I've always got one (well, more like atleast two) and feel naked without one. So I need it for peace of mind to start with. Couple it with the fact if I don't have a knife, I'll need one. I carry 99 percent of the time (except when I sleep, but I've got one at arms reach).
This was my thought, with the wife excited about going it was a good op to pick up a new knife or two (saves on shipping when you buy more

).
SAK's are great (I've got several) but, I love blades that lock. I don't care for any of the knock-offs. I think I'll just pick up some lower end Spyderco's unless I see something else.
