I bought this new from BusseCombat with a gray coating. I stripped it myself and gave it a satin finish and then, after attempting to do it myself, had it professionally BeadBlasted.
I have never sharpened it but it was used once to chop one section of a 4" diameter tree.
There are three marks on one side of the blade where I got too close with an underpowered BeadBlaster when I was making an attempt to do it myself. They are not indentions, you can not feel them. You can see them but they are not highly visible. I'm pretty sure they'll come out with some fine grit sand paper.
There are a few rust dots on the butt end.
