Beam Helve type hammer in action

along time ago the guy that got me interested in all this had a power hammer kind of similar it was "newer" and had a rail road tie for the beam and it was alot faster. they are cool! and powerful! i havent seen one for sale which is strange to me.

Sam, it was very simialr to that. if i remember the base was more rounded almost a twinkie shape but other than that the same basic concept.

erik, i dont think it would take a big base. i dont think my friends had a big base built i think it just sat on rail road ties. the base of the hammer is pretty large so the weight is distributed more than your typical "horizontal" type hammers. i dont know though.... some one will correct me if i am wrong tho

LOL..you have that right. I was thinking more of the part under where the head strikes.
