I though you folks might appreciate this informative site on bears, bear attacks and bear defense that Jimbo posted in my Outdoor Handgun Caliber Choice post. I think it deserves a wider audience, the information is surprising and useful. Here's the link:

Before I check out the site I will tell some basics I have ehard about the different species of bear and see how accurate the information is.

If you are attacked by brown or grizzly play dead with your hands over your head and they are more likely to maul you a bit then possibly "bury" you and leave.

If attacked by a black bear or polar bear, fight like hell because they are more likely to kill you, your best chance is to drive them off or escape.

Will go see now if this is true.
