Bear Gryllis Knife

Oh yes, I have read that one. It is riduculous how much it cost for a knife with the signature of guy that doesn't really stay out in the wild. Some other member mentioned how he bought the knife just to see how it was, he said it was alright, but would have rather have gotten something else. If I had a lot of money to burn, I would buy the knife just to use as a beat up tool. Don't get me wrong, I do like the way it looks, but I wouldn't pay that much for it when there are better knife makers and brands out there for a lot less.

Wouldn't a Fallkniven F1 do everything that one would, and probably better?

No it wouldn't. The "Bear" signature acts as a talisman, giving you the confidence and energy to run through the wilds with reckless abondon and consume inedible materials at any time.

The F1 only slices, cuts, chops, batons and drills.

Consuming inedible materials doesn't sound so good:barf:. I think I'll stick with something else and walk slower.:p:p:)

THIS knife will give you the balls you NEED to survive. Why, you'll be sucking moisture out of elephant $hit in no time. :)

out of curiousity, if you take away bear's signature and the ridiculous price tag, would any of you be interested in this knife? I agree with batosai117, its not a bad looking knife.

It's a bushcraft knife. There are quite a few of them running around these days, not to mention the plentiful Scandinavian models that inspired them. The price is a marketing ploy, but that's true of many prices, charging what the market lets them get away with.

What is so fun with that knife really?
It looks too beefy and too designed.
What is RWL steel?
The knife is 1mm thinner than an F1 and I doubt that it will work in freezing environment, there is too much bare metal.
It almost looks like something from Extrema Ratio.

Here is what the website says about RWS steel:
The steel I use is always RWL a modern powder metallurgy steel that has a fine grain and carbide structure after a specific heat treatment calculated to get the best overall performance from the steel by An Interrupted quenching and multiple tempering technique to give hardness in the aim of 60rc.

There was a thread from a guy who bought one about a month ago in the General Discussion Forum. By the time the thread ended the guy had had time to use it a bit. He found it to be well balanced, held an edge well, seemed pretty tough to him. He is a collector and had several other blades of similar type to compare to. After reading his hands-on experience with the knife, it seems that the knfe performs well enough, but is priced a bit high. And of course most folks around here would not be caught dead with one because of what would normally be the justifying factor for the extra high price.

i would consider it if it where 100 bucks and proven to be good quality but i will never buy it now that it says bear grills on the knife and sheath especially now that it has been proven he is a fake.

i'll save my money and wait for the wes stroud knife to come out...ha..ha..ha

Seems in past episodes he used cheapies, at least he's moving up!

I think the Bear should carry one of those Toollogic Fire starter knives, though he obviously doesn't have the skill to start a fire with the firesteel. Perhaps they can make a Bear Special model with a small torch in place of the firesteel.
