What on earth would make a person buy a 600 dollar knife.....save 500 bucks and get a RAT KNife......with the 500 bucks u can get a nice pistol...lol

I'd buy a 600 dollar knife if it was a custom job that looked like some I've seen made here and if it had the same return value. But those knives are worth a LOT less than what they're asking for one.

why does a pistol have more inherent value than a knife?

who are you to question how people spend their money?

I am not trying to tell anyone how to spend their money...hey if u have 600 bucks to buya knife go for it.....but unless its made of space age materials or is the actual kife used in te show.i can;t see it really being worth the money.....the mark up must be incredible....

I couldn't agree more with you MORIMOTOM..
I actually find it badass some folks got more then enough money to throw on luxury items like that bailey knife.. maybe it is overrated.. or maybe overrated by people envying one.. who knows.. The design is still very slick.. you must admit.

When I was younger we had a neighbor that had just about any toy that came out on the market and the gossip and bs that was said... was .... outraging. It was almost as if the person would have to buy luxury items in double.. just so he can hand one over to his jealous comrades.:barf:

If I was "ballin" right now.. I'd buy a dozen of those baily knives just to spread jelly and peanut butter on my toasts. I'm sure the toast would taste better too! :jerkit::D

Why would anyone create this thread when there is already a 9 page thread with the same title on this page?

Because some folks is silly would be one answer to both questions....:D

Well, it all comes down to the person and their "will" to have nice things. I'm no where near rich, but if I really want something, I have to save up to get it. I'm toting around a near $500 Strider SMF that's brand spanking new as of a week ago, but I didn't just slap $500 on the table and walk out with it.

It was a personal accomplishment that I now have this awsome $500 knife. I have slowly traded and bought knives which led up to getting this one. More of an investment in which I traded off other knives so that I could get my "ONE," so if this folder cost me that much regardless of how much it gets used, the $600 baylay official "man vs. wild" knife will mean that much to somebody willing to drop the money for it.

Sometimes it's the "name" that you're buying (which may be true in this case) but there's also materials, time put into it, and how much it's worth to YOU. Before Bear was found to be a hotel junky, I watched his shows faithfully believing every word and I probably would have thrown any amount of money to get his official knife. There's still people out there who see him this way and that's OK for them.

I'm sure this thread was intended to just poke fun at the knife at hand, but to others it gets a little personal feeling like we have to defend owning expensive things. I'm done ranting, J. :)

When they're new here and we don't know better, we say hello, we answer their questions. When they've been here long enough that we can see they treat BF like texting friends on their cellphones, babbling aimlessly, not paying attention, not learning anything, well ... that's what the ignore list is for. Why encourage them by responding?

Folks no need to get all super serious this forum is supposed to be fun...this thread is not ment to poke fun at anyone...I just now ordered a Rat-4 with oranage g-10 handles for 100 bucks....some of my friends would think that is a waste of money....the knife is a present to myself....but people can spend their hard earned money on whatever they flost there boat...i am just trying to create a discussion...is the knife worth 600 bucks maybe somoene can suggestion a knife that is equally as good for less money....

don't really see this guy as ignore list worthy-he has an opinion and i don't think that it's reallly trolling

Ah, why didn't you say so :p the knife that you ordered is plenty of knife for the money and probably shoots the bear grylls knife right out of the water :D

Well, I have an extra 600 bucks. In fact, I have an extra 6,000 bucks. Just because you can't afford it doesn't mean I can't.

You're assessment of worth means nothing whatsoever to me.

Because you can easily do a drive-by shooting in the hood with a gun.....ever try a drive-by stabbing with a knife?....I rest my case.

RWS, you're about to hit 5,000 posts!!!

Gibby

uh oh. Too late. Nevermind. Well, ummm, congrats.

I'd buy one if I had the lettuce. It looks cool, and has an awesome sheath. I just can't afford the asking price.

I did buy a RC4 which is really nice and works great. I wish RAT would offer the RC4 in some kind of stainless steel. That would be my affordable Bear Grylls (like) knife. The 1095 is good, but stains, and rusts easily. I'm not into the coating too much.
