Bear Grylls Knock off Knife

I heard his original knife sold for around $400.00 This is probably a Chinese knockoff and probably a pos. It does look like a decent knife.

If you want something similar to the Grylls knife this is actually an improvement over the original IMO, check out Martin Knives of Texas. Excellent quality. here's an example, its called the Bushcraft Tactical.

This knife is being sold with the Discovery and Bear Grylls names. Not likely that they have any authorization to do this, which is definitely uncool. I reported it to the Discovery store, but I have no idea if they are interested.

I saw his actual knife from the maker that made his and it was in the $700-$800 range. I like the design, but thats alot for a bushcraft knife. I am sure there are very similar designs out there or even quality reproductions that are about half this.

After Bear stopped using it on the show and the signature disappeared, the price dropped to $400. :D

Judging by all the typos, engrish, and the origin I would highly doubt it.

I've heard that termites really taste better when served on that original Bayley Knives 'Bear' knife.

I'm more of a Les Stroud 'Survivorman' type - he used a Buck 119 'Special', $34 at WallyWorld, knife on several of his shows.

He's had a few other knives that looked rather high quality though.

Still, I've got to say I definitely prefer Les Stroud to Bear Grylls. Anyone who advocates drinking water from animal scat is an idiot.

Les Stroud>Bear Grylls.. Only because Les films himself, and takes two trips to double back and blah blah blah.. Bear is only cool because he eats crazy things..

If you guys check the location of the item...ShangHai, China...'nuff said

While a Buck 119 isn't the best survival/bushcraft knife made, it is quite decent and certainly quite decent quality, too - and US-made. Stroud's usual knife was on a multi-tool - hardly as effective - except in the jungle (Panama?) where he sliced his finger pretty well.

Now, as far as Grylls' squeezing potable water from elephant dung, I'll take his word for that - the boy will eat/drink anything. Besides, verifying that locally would involve my jumping a safety fence - and likely revoke my zoo privleges. Gotta admit, while Stroud's harmonica would likely keep bear and moose away, it would get old - you could always dare Grylls to eat something nasty - kind of a modern day 'Mikey' - from the old TV cereal commercial. Besides, he carries a sat phone for nightly extractions to the four star lodges. With Stroud you'd be cleaning camera lenses and checking batteries all night.
