Bear Grylls Parang recall

So out of the 119K that were sold, how many do you think have actually been used by someone to cut something? Don't you figure that most are still waiting patiently for the Apocalypse to use it the first time?

Why make machetes in China that break when you could just get any of the South American companies to make them and they'd probably be tough as nails. So very irritated with Gerber, they have some ok designs, but they're almost always executed poorly. For instance my Gerber Guardian Tanto is nice, but it'd be was more handy if it had a slightly wider blade and they didn't overheat the edge when they ground it, carbon steel would also be nice since they coated it anyway...I'll never understand that company

Because a Central/South American manufacturer wouldn't be as likely to be able to make that fancy BG handle with the bolt fasteners. It wouldn't look "cool" enough. :p

I received a replacement a couple weeks ago..I took it apart and checked the tang..Everything looks the same except the entire machete seems smaller than the original and the coating is less uniform.

Pics?

Like i said i dont actually use the parang i just used it to get free shipping. What i do use is the sheath though, i found it works great for my condor golok as it sits pretty high.
