One of the greatest pleasures for me as moderator here is having gotten to know many of you personally and calling you friends. It's also a great pleasure and source of satisfaction to see when forumites take their dreams and run with them. These forumites embody the "survival mentality" of working hard to make their dreams a reality, and taking the initiative on their own to do so. It's a great honor for me to be the one to break the following news:

Reuben Bolieu, who posts here as BearTheDog, has been sharing his incredible photography skills with us for some time. He has taken the initiative to travel to places like the Peruvian jungle to learn and practice survival firsthand, and has consistently demonstrated his bushcraft prowess here in the forums.

Well, his talents have now been officially recognized and put to excellent use by both Tactical Knives and SWAT magazines, both of which are using his photographs for feature articles! After doing some photos for RAT Cutlery's site under field photos, ML Knives, Muskrat Man, Koyote, and JK Knives websites, he is on his way to a whole new career path. The Tactical Knives article with his photos was written by Jeff Randall, about machetes. Reuben also collaborated with the legendary Jerry Van Cook on an article in SWAT Magazine, and it features his photos of the RC-4.

Please join me in congratulating our friend Reuben on his success, and wishing him continued success in his chosen field in the future!

Reuben, way to go, Brother!:thumbup::thumbup:

Edited to add: Reuben is also working on a Stephan Fowler article for TK Magazine and now a TOPS/Gossman article on Ultralight Hiking Knives for Backpacker.

He's flying to Peru tonight for more adventure in the Amazon, helping Jeff Randall and Mike Perrin advise for a major European "Survivor" type reality show. Be safe, brother!

I heard this from ruben, and I was floored. That is quite an accomplishment. I enjoy his reviews alot, and he has taken alot of time awnsering my multiple questions for my preparations to go to peru next year. We also email back and forth pretty regularly bout other stuff, and im happy to have him as a friend.

Way to go Ruben! Congrats, and I wish you success in this path. --J

Reuben and I joke around a lot and feed off each other's sick sense of humor. However, in all seriousness, I am fortunate enough to count him as a friend. He's a wonderful guy and contributes far more than just his photography.

thanks for posting this brian.
