This is a new model Axe I am calling my "Skeg axe". Skeg is old Norse for beard.
It is a big burly hand axe made from 3/8" thick 4140 steel. They are hardened to about 55rc and I also give them a spring tempered tang for extra shock resistance. The "scalloped" handles offer a lot of grip in multiple hand positions, and are very comfortable to hold. The spike is very beefy and is left flat on the underside, so it can be used for prying or digging.
I am offering this for cheaper without a sheath, but I can make a kydex one if it is wanted.
Here are the specs.
OAL - 16"
Head length - 7 7/8"
Cutting edge - 4" the beard is sharp on these as well, and would be great for more finesse work.
Steel - 3/8" 4140 appx. 55rc head, and spring tempered tang
Handles - Natural micarta. They are permanently attached with 6x 1/4" screws and G/flex epoxy.
Price - $450 + $16 Priority shipping in the US. I can ship international for about $40 more.
If a kydex sheath is wanted, I can make one for $50.
Paypal is prefered, but I accept postal money orders as well.
Thanks for looking!
