Hi guys!

Have any of you seen bearings in size 1/2" ID x 7/8" OD x 9/32" width?

The width could be somewhat wider without a problem.

I'm looking at getting rubber small wheels from china, but can't seem to find matching bearings to fit my small wheels holder.

Unfortunately I have no lathe and can't easily turn the shaft to a more common size ID bearing.

Thanks!

They're not going to fit your holder without lathe work, if it's the same size as my OBM small wheel holder. They're too wide. I bought a couple and am going to turn them down to fit and use the same bearings but just haven't gotten around to it yet.

Standard bearings for KMG style small wheel holders are R6-2rs, but they have a 3/8" ID. If you want 1/2", you might try an r6-5zzc.

Depending on your holder though, you'll likely have to do some modification to the holder, as they're usually designed for a 3/8" bearing shaft.

Haha, all this imperial talk is getting me a headache. But yeah, you're both correct. In order to use them I need to shorten and turn down the shaft to 3/4".

How much of work do you think that is for someone with a lathe and 62 years experience with it?

(I'm not kidding, my uncle has been a machinist since he was 13, and he still works in the same workshop now at age 75, let's just say they are having trouble replacing his knowledge).

I imagine any apprentice could do the job just fine, and not even use their whole lunch break. ;)

I'm sure your uncle will do just fine with it. Just give him the wheel and the bearings, and ask for a light interference fit.
