bearing system folder without a flipper

Yes, a lot of non flippers use bearings. I've been putting bearings on all my folders recently. I think in the next few years, all folders will be using bearings and washers will be a thing of the past. Bearings give a big advantage to both the maker and the user.

Alan Davis makes both flippers and non flippers with a bearing system. SMOOTH AS SILK! Thanks! Kevin :D:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Korth Amazonas. I wish I had kept these.

Ray, thanks for the insight. I thought about this years ago. Rolling friction being less than sliding friction.

I would be concerned about bearings, because I work in a dusty environment, and my knives get crudded up, just sitting in my pocket.

Likewise, folks who get deployed to the sandbox may not want bearings in their knives, because the grit gets into everything, and will chew up a set of bearings.

Yeah, I know, "with regular cleaning and maintenance", abracadabra and so on and so forth, but when you've got a rifle to maintain, eighty pounds of kit, light and noise discipline...

Having to break down a folder and clean it as well, is not the way to go.

I would like to hear what you think about the IKBS tests on youtube.

They dunk it in mud, sand, park a car on it and still opens.

My Kirby Lambert Incinerator is a non flipper with IKBS. Blade is almost 4". This folder opens buttery smooth.

I'll give it a look. I would like to know how the bearings work after three years or so of continuous exposure to sand and grit, and a thousand or so openings. The kind of wear that a knife gets over years of use is hard to simulate.
