after a long time, at least 4 months of gathering the stuff, like the anvil, making the forge, making the kmg clone, modifying the bandsaw to cut metal, i finially got to swing a hammer for the first time. never done it before, and for sure didn't know what i was doing, but after an hour or two of hammering, it sort of looked like a knife, so i figured i was done. went to the grinder for about an hour, and started to look pretty good. was kind of anticlimatic..

it looks better in the picture than in person, but with a little more work, i think i will be happy with it. thinking of putting some green canvas micarta, or curly maple handles on it. i thought about doing a hidden tang, but wasn't sure how, so went with the full tang..

I like how you secured your anvil to the stump. Never thought of that. I'm gonna have to do that to my "stump-anvil combo", too.

just a couple of left over pieces of 1/2 plate left over from the kmg clone, and some 1/2 x 5 inch galvanized lag bolts. it really worked great, i have to admit

It looks like a great knife blade but with some narrowing at the tang it would be a terrific spear head. I dont know anybody making them and I bet they would sell.

how did you get the edges so uniform???

Wow I really suck(my blades are sooooooo un-uniform)!!!

i did it freehand with the 10 inch grizzly based attachment that i made for my clone grinder. this is the platen i made with ceramic backing. will try to get a pic of the 10 inch setup. had practice with my first knife that i made by stock removal...
