Beater Khukri

I have a WW2 HI kukri and I can't say enough bout it.Mines a half an inch thick 18" long.Monster chopper.

I'd love to recommend HI's khuk's, but I think all but the Kumar Kobra would be too thick-heavy for the OP's machete duty needs. On average, they'd be just over his price point too.

well, I HAVE looked at HI and Khukuri House and seen soom GREAT looking blades, but I think I need a thinner blade stock for what I'm planning on using it for (mainly machete work). The traditional khukuri is a great knife (otherwise the Nepalese wouldn't have started using 'em so much), but the traditional handles don't look like they have enough grip for me. I plan on SWINGING this thing around quite a bit and I need more grip. Also, I do own a good camp axe, so heavy chopping isn't as big a deal as I made it out to be.

I'm looking at the Cold Steel Kukri machete (regular and Magnum) and also the Ka-Bar Kukri. Any opinions on these?

Sorry to disappoint all the HI fans
