Hey pitdog, the only fungi I'm interested in is Inonotus obliquus and Fomes fomentarius (true and false tinder fungus).

I could never understand why anybody would want to eat something related to crotch rot and athlete's foot.

Hi Doc. I live in Hamilton on the mountain. I like your photos.

I like this area in particualr hiking the Niagara Gorge. You can walk down to the river, stand knee deep and watch tourists taking Jet Boat rides rumble past. That scenery is so raw that you have to go north well past Algonquin park along #11 to see anything so rugged. Its incredible.

P.S. You 'sound' familiar for some reason. did you ever go to Chester's on King Street?

Hey bro, thank you and welcome to the forums.

As far as Chester's, I don't even know where (or what, although I'm guessing it's a bar) it is.

Doc

Maybe this will help?

i'm also sorry to hear the red hill creek was covered-over.

did you notice any dispalced wildlife? i hear some people mentioning coyotes, various birds, etc. just 'showing up' on thir property where no animals were before. i notice more rabbits and badgers in the upper sherman and mohawk east area.

Badgers? I've never heard of badgers around here. I'd be interested in hearing more about this. I have a copy of the biological inventory for Hamilton-Wentworth somewhere around here. I'm going to have to dig it out.

LOL

my mistake DOC i meant to say possums.

they are so alike after all. :)

by the way, the firend i was talking about is bubbacatfish.

he sais hi...

Bubbacatfish used to be semi-regular on this forum, but IIRC, he was moving or something and haven't heard from him since. Pass along my best wishes, if you would.

What part of Ontario, mn? Maybe we can get together for a hike or something?

Doc

Doc - I was thinking the same... I will probably be heading towards Toronto and than on to Algonquin... Hamilton is along the way isn't it?

It depends which way you come to Ontario. If you cross the border at Niagara Falls/Buffalo, etc. (West end of Lake Ontario), Hamilton is definitely on the way. If you cross at the East end, then it is not. Hamilton is about 40 miles west of Toronto.

We do have badgers well to the southwest, when you get to the western half of the Lake Erie shoreline. I've had some discussions with a local MNR bio about them, talking about various Carolinian forest animals.

But not up around Hamilton, I don't think.
