This is a beautiful single bladed folder. It is marked "Fillinger Gallipolis, Ohio". It is deeply hollow ground to a bowie profile. The bolsters are steel and you can see the outline of the hinge pin. The rivets are brass and are peened over, not machine made. The thong hole is brass lined. Even the edge bevel is symmetrical on both sides. I have no idea what the steel is. As you can see, the stag is stunning and the fit is flawless.

OAL = 8"
Bolster to tip of blade = 3 3/8"
Handle length = 4 3/4"
Blade width = 7/8"

The only marks are on the blade/hinge junction, as well as a few very tiny marks on the liner on the butt end. I cannot feel them with a fingernail...

The fit and finish of this knife is exceptional and as nice as any I have handled. I took this knife to the Knifemakers Guild show back in the mid 90's and even Ken Warner had never heard of this maker...

I do not know very much about Mr. Fillinger. I did speak to him by phone about 10 years ago and I know he was contemplating starting to make knives again, however I have not seen another of his work and have heard nothing since. If anyone wishes to update me on the maker or this knife, please feel free.

I know this is a rare piece. I would like $500.00 for it and I will pay shipping in the US.

Enjoy life, it can be over in the blink of an eye...
