It was a beautiful day yesterday and fortunately I had a day off and the wife wasn’t busy, so we had a “hiking date”. This is a nice little area about 20 minutes away…I wanted to hike out to the primitive campgrounds as I hadn’t been out there before. We’re planning a few trips to get our backpacking bugs worked out for the summer and fall.

My wife has really wanted to find a place to do some rock climbing and bouldering…this was the best I could do for the day…

My son and I did a hike out there a week ago…here’s why you don’t let your kids watch Man vs. Wild!

The area is pretty decent and we’re going to do a few weekend trips up there…not too many camp sites, but if you get one, plenty of trees for the hammocks.

I’ll have to post the obligatory knife porn later…

Man, you've got it made. Good-looking wife, and a good-looking dog that'll both go out in the woods with you, and a great state to do it in!

Rock6,

Looks like a nice day out with the family. Your pictures remind me that spring turkey season is right around the corner for me, Thanks for taking us along.

I agree, life does not get better that that! :)

Beautiful country, Rock. As of last night ours is covered in snow..... again....

Awesome pics Rock! I used to love hiking in the woods on the Georgia side of the Chattahoochee just north of Columbus 25 years ago there was almost no development there because of all the managed pine forests and I could walk for miles never seeing anything. Must have warmed up nicely, I see she shed that black jacket, I remember not wearing much black down there in the summer except in the evenings and at night. You know if he follows in your footsteps all that will come in handy crossing the ropes.

where were y'all hiking? My family and I are looking for new places in Georgia.

Thanks guys...it was at Mistletoe State Park. It's a pretty decent area and not too crowded yet. We were the only ones out there and met another couple as we were heading out.

Looks like a great day Rock. Thanks for sharing!

Hey Chief, you camped out there didn't you? That one campsite right at the "rock dam" is a pretty nice area.

valcas1 reminded me that as soon as we decended into a small open area as you first come down to one of the creeks, we spooked up about a dozen turkeys.
