So, I picked up a Cold Steel Triple Action Tanto - the serrated version. I hate serrations, but, hey, it was $60 and mechanically sound.
I flipped it for a while and got used to handling it. It's really fun as heck to play with, and I had to mess with a small spring in the knife to make it so that the tip didn't have a natural resting spot that made it dig into the handle when closing.
The design lends itself to beating the everloving crap out of the blade. While playing with it, I beat the everloving crap out of the blade, which had already had the everloving crap beaten out of it. It had a lot more teeth in the edge than came from the factory, is all I'm saying.
So, once I had gotten used to it and was no longer trying to make the knife cut itself, I played with it a bit, took the teeth off the serrations to make it functionally a plain edge, cleaned up the handle and blade a bit (a lot) and did something that I don't know if anyone has ever done before:
The Tanto Clip Point.
No no no, let's get some contrast on that!
And what picture thread would be complete without a "oops I dropped my knife into some leaves onto a spyderco knife stand better take a picture" photo?
Also, the other side:
Call it what you will - an abomination, a shame, a waste, an exercise, a plea for attention, a mall ninja's wet dream... I love the stupid thing and have been carrying it nonstop since I took it out of the mailbox. Now it's uniquely mine and with a grind I've never seen before (and probably for a good reason)
