Becker-16 and a Whitetail Buck

Very nice buck. I had a 16 and, regrettably, sold it. I will have another at some point. HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!!!

Hey MOCraig........

Your post was certainly a nice way for me to start the year..... Thank you sir for the praise.......

A lovely buck you nailed...... I hope he eats as good as he looks........

Thank you again.......

Ethan

Thanks! So far, he does eat as good as I'd hoped.

More importantly, thanks for designing the 16. It's a good one.

Thank you Ethan, but I have to admit--this makes things even more mysterious! In any case, let me echo what has been said already--great designs, thanks much! Love my 16 and my 14.

Nice 10 pt. Huge. I still cannot get over the size of these Midwest deer after growing up in PA. I mean the Doe out here are bigger than the buck I spent the better part of my life shooting at.

Oh baby! That's a fine buck. Congrats. I also used my 16 this deer season. Cleans them with ease.

I see you're in Iowa - that's a great place for whitetails. Land of Giants.

Nick Buck! That'll put some venison in the freezer.

By the way, what did you kill it with?
Are you going to have it mounted or just keep the antlers?

Thank you! I passed a lot of bucks with my bow this year - never really had one in front of me I wanted. Several that I will keep an eye on for next season, but this year they earned a pass ticket.

This one came off a different property than the one I bowhunt on. I killed him during the alternative weapons season, and used a Ruger .44 Redhawk. Pistols are fun - its like loud bowhunting!

I didn't take him to the taxidermist - he wasn't quite large enough. Honestly, should have passed him till next year. For the record, if you're field-judging a buck, don't look at him through your pistol scope. Kind of makes them look bigger!

So, his meat is in the freezer, and his antlers have been claimed by one of my sons.

On a positive note, I did get to pick up last years archery "Becker Buck" from my taxidermist just after Christmas. He's hung up now, and I think looks great.

Hate to see deer season winding down......
