I bought one the other day for an excellent price. It's real Camillus made, not made in china.

My question is how durable the steel will be compared to 1095, 01, D2 etc. I understand it's supposed to be the same as the carbon V in my Recon Scout. I was going to get the Ontario RAT 7 in D2 but they almost gave this brand new Becker to me.

I have several D2 knives anyway, and can get another one if needed. 1095 is another of my favorites. How will my new knife compare? Any horror stories? Thank you, Joe L.

That steel is one of the most common used in production cutlery, called many different names. Basically it is 1095 with very low alloy additions to increase hardening responce as well as refine the grain and make small increases to wear resistance and corrosion resistance. I have seen both solid and as well very poor performance from the steel in regards to durability from Camillus. Including blades for example which broke readily with almost no flex and others which chipped out readily even cutting woods. If you get one like one of the better ones I have seen you will likely be pleased however.

Thank you Cliff. The first thing I did was look up your remarks on it. I appreciate and if I have any notable experiences with it I'll give you a report. Joe L.
