Hey Airyca.....

I don't know if you are familiar with the eastern rainforest known as the Great Smokies.....We do have a bunch of what I think of as REAL trees (deciduous) but we have a ton of hemlock and there are areas here, especially in the spring, which would make you feel right at home.....I understand the feeling though, I get real nervous when I am not in a mixed hardwood forest...LOL.....

Hey thanks for the pics.
My son and I are starting to work on different fire starting techniques. It is his latest boy scout project. Just pick up a few different firesteels and other gear to try out. I'll post a gear review shortly.

Well to be honest never been there, most of my east coast adventures are a little farther north, mostly VT/NH actually. Isn't it weird that some trees feel more like real trees than others? :D

Nope, perfectly normal. I grew up here in the Smoky Mountains, and I feel strange everytime I have to go somewhere flat. It just freaks me out.
