I've got a ranger band on my BK9. How much insulation do they really provide?

On a serious note, yeah any electronic device that has capacitors in it has the potential to "wake you up" with a little nip or give you the "deep sleep". Some really good ones can literally hold a potentially lethal charge for weeks.

I was dismantling an old camera when I was a kid and the capacitor for the flash really woke me up. I've seen people online making tazers out of old or disposable cameras.
 
When I was going to an automotive college there were a few guys who were always shocking people with capacitors. They would charge it up, find an unsuspecting victim and say "Hey catch" and toss it to them. You natural reaction is to catch it...ZAP! I only fell for that once....
 
We did the old capacitor trick for weeks while I was in electronics school.. lol, fun times :)

Dex, I had a short lived career working on tube amps and you are right, they can zap your ass good.. I quickly realized that you need to know electronics and play the guitar to properly bias a tube.. only thing I have ever been able to play is the radio, lol My brother is a drummer, I think he got all the musical talent in the family.
